December 2016 Update

Pastor Tom and Lisa Goss with Christmas hatOn behalf of all of us here with B4L Ministries, greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Ministry Update

Things are well with us here. Hopefully we will have closed on the Flory Street property by the time you read this. We are thankful to have an official headquarters to work from as this is our first step.

Some security concerns forced a major change of the B4L website ( in the last month. The timing of the change was unexpected and a bit disruptive. But with the change came some opportunities to minister that we might not have had otherwise as the Lord led someone in desperate need to contact us. God has proved once again that He works all things—even technical problems for good to those who love Him and are the called according to His purpose. Continue reading December 2016 Update

November 2016 Update

An Update from Tom & Lisa

Pastor Tom & Lisa GossOn behalf of all of us here with B4L Ministries, greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

As I sit here to write this newsletter I am somewhat stymied as to what to share and where to begin. So much has taken place in the last month and a half. We have officially relocated our headquarters temporarily back to El Paso, Texas and plan to stay here for the next year to make preparations to fulfill the next part of the vision for Breakthrough 4 Life Ministries.

I want to express to you that the idea of Pastor Alana stepping aside and moving to Washington and having me to be the Pastor of B4LM was not something that we all sat around brainstorming to come up with. Pastor Alana had shared that the Lord had spoken to her about re-positioning on Sep. 11, 2014, and since that time, through the Lord’s leading, situations and circumstances has brought us to where we now stand. A New Day

Change is not always easy, but very necessary.

Road going to horizon in early morningBreakthrough 4 Life Ministries has experienced a lot of transition and change in the last year.  This includes our website.  Although we changed directors, we are still committed to sharing the Gospel message with those who need breakthroughs in their lives.  Please be patient with us as we work to get the new site up and running.  If there is specific content that you are looking for from our old site, please let us know.  Leave a comment or email us at pastors@bbn4jesus.

October 2016 Update

Greetings to our friends and partners in the work of the Kingdom of God!  September has been a month full of changes and exciting vision from the Lord.  We are grateful for your continued support and encouragement, especially in the last couple of months.

From Alana

Pastor Alana RandallDear Ones, In these last months, we have pursued to find a home base on the Navajo Nation, but each door of opportunity closed for now. We will be looking for a ministry place in the Gallup area.

In this transition the Lord continues to “order our steps” (Ps.37:23), and He is working out all things for His good pleasure (Rom.8:28) for each of us. In this new season there are some changes in my personal ministry life as well as the team’s. We are repositioning.  Pastor Tom Goss is now the President/Director for Breakthrough 4 Life Ministries. He’s been an active part of Breakthrough Ministries for over 16 years as an elder.  He knows Don’s and my heart and vision for the ministry.

We’ll pursue all that has been established and add more to the vision. I’ll be available for Breakthrough Ministries to do or go for any ministry work. We are excited and confident in the spreading of the Gospel of our Lord, and the vision will grow here and back up to the Navajo people.

Words cannot express my love to all of you who have supported this work with your sacrificial giving and your earnest prayers and for your love for my beloved Don and me. This work is the LORD’S as well as YOURS and OURS. Breakthrough 4 Life Ministries is growing because of your faithfulness. My hope and desire is that you’ll continue to be a vital and life-giving support.  All my love and life in Christ, Alana

From Linda

Linda Kidder“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” So declares our Lord through King Solomon in Ecc.3:1. Consider the truth of this in creation: An apple tree must have a period of dormancy and cold for it to produce fruit. Its barren branches appear lifeless, incapable of fruitfulness; yet we know that life indeed is working and that the warmth of spring will bring forth the leaves and blossoms and a harvest in the fall. The appearance of this ministry is changing as that apple tree changes, but the life flow and roots remain the same. God’s call, His heart, our purpose remain the same: to seek the lost, to love God above all and love others with His love; and to see lives changed through the power of the Holy Spirit as we worship, pray and share the Word of God. These principles from the Word of God will always be at the center of Breakthrough 4 Life as we move forward in faith and walk in obedience to His leading.   By His grace, Linda

From Tom & Lisa

Pastor Tom & Lisa Goss

When my husband was being considered for the director’s position at the Christian Home for Men, one of the board members asked him, “What are your qualifications?”  Tom simply shared his testimony of how his life had been impacted by the ministry of the Home.  At the time Tom was not looking to take the position.  He had wanted to help the ministry in any way that he could.   The Lord so arranged it that Tom ended up directing the ministry for 19 years.

I (Lisa) can imagine the same question being asked as our family transitions into this leadership role with Breakthrough:  what are your qualifications?  What can I say, except that Tom and I have been involved with and impacted by this ministry, first as individuals and then as a couple.  As Pastor Alana has written, Tom helped the ministry for over 16 years while he was Director of the Christian Home.  I came under the discipleship of the ministry for 6 years.  After Pastor Don passed away, Tom and I as a family helped Breakthrough through that transition time.  We have not looked to take on this leadership role, but we have been willing to help Breakthrough fulfill its vision in any way that we can.

God has made it clear through vision that Breakthrough is bigger than we know and will continue beyond us.  We are excited to see what He has planned for this next season, and we look forward to sharing it with all of you, our partners in this work.  We are grateful for and humbled by this opportunity.

June 2016 Update

“…In a place which He should choose…” Josh. 9:27b

Dear ones, during our itinerary and rest, we continue to share our work:  the vision and mission among the Navajo people.  We left the school building amidst circumstances created by some of the Navajo brethren and have been seeking the Lord, asking, “Where do we go?”

Several opportunities have come along that would allow us to remain in the Smith Lake area, but they will cost us much more than what we have.  We know that our Father in heaven has the upper and lower springs in His hands, and He has godly men’s and women’s hearts.  We are trusting in His ways.

He has reiterated about placing His Name there.  Joshua 9:27b “…in the place which He should choose…” Deuteronomy 18:6b “…Unt’o the place which the Lord shall choose…” Deuteronomy 26:2b “…And shall go into the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place His Name there.”

I believe that He wants to settle there in the Navajo Nation with a mission of bringing truth and worship, love and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to save them out of a dying nation.  Deuteronomy 20:4 “For the Lord your God is He that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies to save you.”  The enemy as a destroyer on the Navajo Nation has an effective scheme to stop God’s holy purposes.  We fight against it, even though we are not “hands-on” right now.

We as a ministry among the Navajo desire to help, teach and serve them, so they may become the sons of God and receive of the Lord His great salvation through the preaching of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are very much in need of financial and prayer support to establish a strong base for our mission, as we continue to trust the Lord putting His plans in place in us and the Smith Lake area.  We covet your prayers above all things and know that He will do the rest in all of us.  Scripture declares:  “Cast not away therefore your confidence for it has a great recompense of reward.” Hebrews 10:35. “He that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

Thank you for remembering our ministry to the Navajo Nation.

February 2016 Update

“I have set the LORD always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore is my heart glad and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also rest in hope” –Psalm 16:8-9

Uncertainty in the world holds no power over those who trust in the LORD and His Word.  We see His faithfulness as we seek to follow what He has given us to do here in the Smith Lake area.

The Lord continues to bring the one and two new folks to our services and eternal things take place in the presence of our God. The same is true as the Lord has sent us to the housing to visit some of those who have come.  Those visits and times of fellowship reveal areas of both spiritual and physical lack. Breakthrough has seen that there are many who are slothful, drunkards, and involved with peyote and traditional idolatry. There are older women who gamble away their money, and they claim to know something of the Lord.  We desire to be a blessing to those who are truly in need, whether it is instruction and encouragement in righteous living or a bag of coal or acord of wood or plastic sheeting for their broken windows. Breakthrough will give to those who are willing to work. Continue reading February 2016 Update

December 2015 Update

Nativity scene

Dear Ones,
On Dec. 17 it will be one year without my beloved. This year has been one of the most difficult times of my life.  Through it the Lord has kept His promises to me. He has given His peace, His comfort, and His strength to carry on this work among the Navajo. He has increased in me to pastor these precious lambs, sheep, and some old goats, and He has given me a great co-worker, Ms. Linda Kidder. Ms. Linda and I are in a position for now of being hands-on with everything. We are alone to do and to be all that the Lord desires, as we continue to trust and rely on Him. The doing is a lot, but the being is far more life-giving; truly our lives are not our own. We are honored to preach, teach, and share His glorious Gospel. Please keep us in prayer for the strength and wisdom of the Lord to be our portion as we trust the Lord to do the supernatural here at Smith Lake. Continue reading December 2015 Update

November 2015 Update

“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” (Eph. 5:20)

We are indeed thankful for our Lord’s continued mercies and faithfulness to us as we serve here on the Navajo Nation.

Please keep Pastor Alana and her family in prayer as her father George passed away on Oct. 19 at the age of 94. She has flown home and will return before Thanksgiving.

There is an air of anticipation for a new moving of the Lord among us. We are few in number but willing to believe that we serve the great, all-powerful God and nothing is too hard for Him! Amen. There is desperateness in those that come for prayer and worship to see God move in their lives and their loved ones as well.

Kids’ Night Out

We are seeing fruit in our Kids’ Night Out (KNO) times. One young man accepted the Lord after being overcome with a spirit of fear during a discussion about skin walkers and shape shifting. His friends at the table gathered around him and prayed for him. Please keep Adrian and the others in prayer as the enemy seeks to devour these young ones.

Fun with Jesus? Yes, Yes Yes!!!

We are looking to purchase a ping pong table as part of our KNO ministry. The gym is unheated and will soon be too cold to use for KNO activities. Ping pong will be a good addition to use in the rear of the sanctuary.

Property Updates

We thank the Lord for our brother John Emerson and his family who came and worked one Saturday on the bathroom in the house. Thank you to those who have given towards the house.

Ready for painting and tile work!

Praise the Lord, we were able to get the first three apple trees planted before the onset of the cold weather and anticipate planting more in the spring. The Lord blessed us with a brother at a local nursery in the selection and care of the trees.

October 2015 Update

Greetings to all of you in the great name of our Lord Jesus!

We rejoice in His goodness and mercy daily.

Lisa Goss, part of our team in Texas has been working to upgrade the radio, website and Bible Institute portions of the ministry. We praise the Lord that He continues to use the internet to reach the world with His good news. The Bible Institute is being streamlined for easier use.

Evangelistic Outreach

We have been invited to bring Bible studies to two different homes in the area in the last month. Those involved are young in the Lord and have great needs in their lives because of the darkness they have lived in. Continue reading October 2015 Update

September 2015 Update

Pastor Alana preaching the Word of God with an emphasis on true holiness
Pastor Alana preaching the Word of God

Greetings in the name of our blessed and glorious Lord Jesus, who is wonderful in all His ways!

We have had the joy of visiting a number of folks in their homes this month, believing for the “eyes of their understanding to be enlightened” as we have shared the Word and prayed with them.

Two weeks ago we took part in a powerful time of prayer on Mt. Taylor, one of four sacred mountains in the Navajo tradition. In the unity of the Spirit we came together as one to repent of sin, confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and declare His victory over the Navajo Nation.

Here at Smith Lake we continue to stand with and fight for those in our little flock whose loved ones are in bondage to alcoholism. It is everywhere we look and shows how much hopelessness there is without our Lord. Continue reading September 2015 Update
